It’s 2024 and the Solana metropolis is adorned with technological marvels. Rewind to the beginning, and you’ll find a tale that started with a question, a hero, and the birth of Solflare — the guardian that reshaped the Solana metropolis.

Have you heard of Solflare Wallet? It’s my best Solana Wallet.

Let’s go back to 2020 when the Solflare Wallet journey started.

In the bustling Solana metropolis, where neon lights danced on the sleek surfaces of skyscrapers and innovation was birthed, Serbian General Vidor Gencel founder of Solflare, was another brilliant mind with a “superhuman” blockchain team.

Working tirelessly as a blockchain engineer and Architect, General Vidor’s days and nights were consumed by lines of code and the promise of a decentralized future.

Solflare General Vidor spots the Solana Problem

One fateful night as the Solana metropolis slept, General Vidor found himself and his extraordinary team reviewing the Solana blockchain’s code, touching grass, and drinking some coffee.

General Vidor stumbled upon a solution to a problem in the Solana metropolis. The implications of this problem were profound — it threatened the stability of Solana and the trust of its users.

What was the problem?

General Vidor thought out loud:

Why can’t citizens of the Solana metropolis have a simple, user-friendly mobile wallet that can house all their digital assets, enable trading/ exchange of these assets, and still let them fortify the Solana metropolis by staking their Solana metropolis passport — the SOL token?

Phase 1 — The Desktop Experience

Determined to solve this problem, General Vidor and his team delved into a coding marathon fueled by passion and responsibility.

As lines of code blurred before their eyes, they couldn’t shake the feeling that this discovery was more than just a need — it was a doorway to something extraordinary.

The victory was nigh, everyone knew this. Sleep wasn’t an option as all hands were on deck to build an innovation that would reshape the Solana metropolis.

The air grew thick with anticipation, and an inexplicable chill swept through the General’s team.

A few months later, the solution to this lack of an all-in-one mobile wallet was solved.

In July 2020, https://solflare.com/portfolio went live and phase one (desktop version) of this solution was complete.

Yassss, every member of the team screamed as Solflare launched the web version of its all-in-one wallet. General Vidor and his superhuman team completed the patch that would safeguard Solana’s integrity.

In that transformative experience, General Vidor became one with the very essence of Solana. He felt the rush of transactions coursing through his veins, the hum of validator nodes resonating in his ears.

The once-mortal blockchain engineer was reborn as Solflare, a being of pure energy and guardian of the Solana Universe.

2020 was the year. The Solana metropolis applauded this innovation and sang:

In the dawn’s embrace, a new passport to the Solana metropolis lives,

easy to use, safe and secure for you, powerful and accessible to all.

Solflare, Solflare, Solflare everyone sang,

victory’s embrace, foreseen in the morning light.

Sing that victory song again.

The Solflare web wallet was accessible to all, both Solana metropolis citizens and outsiders from the Ethereum cosmos.

Migrants swamped the Solana metropolis, each only getting approval from the guardian, Solflare. It was magical.

In a short time, records were made and shattered.

22% of circulating passports to the Solana metropolis (SOL tokens worth over $16 billion at the time) were staked in the Solflare wallet, to fortify the metropolis. Today’s metrics are 17% of circulating passports valued at $7.87 billion.

It was mind-blowing.

Solflare was home to all Solana-based digital assets. Solrise Finance, a non-custodial digital asset management platform also built by General Vidor and his team on Solana was compatible with Solflare.

Alongside the web wallet was a web extension compatible with browser apps like Chrome and Brave browser for easy access to the wallet without visiting the Solflare website.

Every General Faces Challenges

Solflare’s journey was not without its challenges. The newfound powers as Guardians of Solana were both a gift and a responsibility for the Solflare team.

All these problems were later solved by General Vidor and his team

One major challenge was the process of staking your Solana passport to fortify the metropolis. Some Solflare users saw zero balances when viewing their staked SOL and this was worrisome.

Another issue was a general wallet zero balance where users couldn’t find their funds in their wallet.

As usual, these challenges were sorted out by the capable General Vidor-led team.

Phase 2 — The Mobile Experience

As General Vidor and his team faced skepticism, fear, and even opposition, Solflare persisted, understanding that this mission surpassed personal recognition.

The journey had only begun and phase 2 of this innovation was already on course.

Solflare’s Co-founder Lieutenant Filip Dragoslavic shared his perspective.

“More and more crypto users are becoming mobile-first every year, and we believe that making the Solana experience easy for these users is key to continuing its explosive growth,” he said in a statement.

There was no opportunity to rest as the mobile version of Solflare needed to go live.

On November 5, 2021, Solflare announced the launch of the first all-in-one Solana mobile wallet. This was a dream come true and a challenge for Solflare’s competition, Phantom Wallet.

The mobile wallet was a game changer for the Solana metropolis as both citizens and non-citizens could carry their passports and other digital assets anywhere on their mobile devices.

This mobile wallet allowed citizens of the Solana metropolis to access any Solana infrastructure on the go.

Collaborations in the Solana Metropolis

Solflare attracted like-minded entities in the Solana metropolis, unveiling a cutting-edge integration with now-defunct exchanges FTX.com and FTX.us, setting the stage for a seamless portfolio management experience for Solana citizens.

This integration opened the gateway to a new era of digital asset management where users can anticipate a smoother, more efficient, and feature-rich experience.

It didn’t stop there.

Solflare partnered with MoonPay as its preferred fiat on-ramp provider, allowing citizens of Solana to purchase their Solana metropolis passport (SOL tokens) and other Solana-compatible digital assets with fiat currencies like USD and Euro.

Keystone and Solflare also collaborated to elevate the security and user experience within the Solana metropolis with the introduction of the M-6.0 firmware. Users could seamlessly integrate their Keystone Essential or Pro hardware wallets with Solflare.

Metamask comes to Solana

Solflare strapped on its cape and introduced the MetaMask Snaps bridge — a gateway to the Solana realm that left even the most seasoned crypto explorers wide-eyed.

Solflare teamed up with MetaMask to create Metamask Snaps, available exclusively on the desktop app — a place where MetaMask users natively interact with Solana applications.

Together, they summoned the powers of Debridge Finance, creating a cosmic bridge with 200,000 Snap users.

In just four months, this collaboration saw a whopping $7 million in bridge transactions, flipping and twirling as it leaped from MetaMask to Solana.

As the crypto circus unfolded, Solflare’s MetaMask Snaps bridge became the new portal to the Solana metropolis, a testament to the boundless creativity and comic brilliance of General Vidor and his team.

Phantom, the Solflare Challenger

There existed another titan in the Solana metropolis called Phantom Wallet. As citizens weighed their options, the cosmic clash between Solflare and Phantom unfolded.

While both wallets offered refuge for digital assets, Solflare shimmered with a unique brilliance and hit the bull’s eye before Phantom.

  1. Solflare’s all-encompassing embrace welcomed both citizens and wanderers to staking.
  2. Solflare ventured into uncharted territories with its mobile marvel. The launch of the first all-in-one Solana mobile wallet sent shockwaves through the metropolis, providing unparalleled accessibility to citizens on the move.
  3. Solflare’s collaboration with Keystone elevated the stakes, fortifying the Solflare Extension, and ensuring a union of security and user experience that outshone Phantom’s defenses.
  4. As Solflare forged alliances with exchanges like FTX.com and FTX.us, it expanded the metropolis’s boundaries, offering a seamless portfolio management experience.
  5. Features like priority gas fees and NFT blocklists make Solflare the best user-concerned wallet in the Solana metropolis.
