Kamino Finance: Solana’s DeFi Powerhouse.
Participating in DeFi on Solana is now easy: borrow, lend, provide liquidity, and get some exposure to farming and perp trades, with instant portfolio analytics on Kamino Finance.
Welcome to Kamino Finance, Solana’s Ultimate Liquidity Destination.
I’ll explain in clear terms because not everyone understands key crypto terminologies.
Kamino Finance is a Solana-based concentrated liquidity management tool that integrates all DeFi features in one place.
Let’s say you have $200 and want to get into DeFi on Solana, here’s what you can do.
Connect your Wallet
Head over to https://app.kamino.finance/
Establish a Solana-compatible wallet such as Solflare wallet and ensure it’s funded with SOL for conducting activities. I recommend having a balance of at least 0.1 SOL in your wallet.
When you click the Connect button, Kamino Finance will prompt you for the following permissions:
- Access to view your wallet balance and activity.
- Authorization for transaction approvals.
Once you approve, you can get started.
Choose a Product/Service
Borrow/ Lend
With your $200, you can lend $50 to Kamino Finance and earn some interest over time.
Choose a pool from the list or find it in the search bar.
You’d find the interest on the asset you’re lending (supply APY) which is 23.24% as seen below.
On the lending page for that asset, you can deposit any amount you want, here you will deposit $50 and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
You can view your lending analytics at the bottom of the page or go to your portfolio.
The asset you deposited on the lending pool can be withdrawn at any time to your wallet.
You can borrow any asset after depositing your asset to any Kamino lending pool.
The amount you can borrow is based on the amount deposited as collateral. With your $50 deposited in the Kamino lending pool, you can borrow up to $35 and pay back at any time, provided your deposited asset doesn't lose value.
You’d find the interest on the asset you’re borrowing (borrow APY) which is 38.31% as seen earlier.
Liquidity
This feature allows you to provide liquidity for any asset or pool and enjoy transaction fees and rewards which can be withdrawn instantly.
Select any pool or vault to provide liquidity or create yours.
Deposit and stake your asset either as single liquidity (SOL alone) or as double-sided liquidity (SOL and JITO)
You can view analytics of your liquidity at the bottom of the page.
Multiply with Farming
This is for the risk takes who love high risk — high reward.
This feature allows you to earn interest with an up to 5x boost and other rewards.
Kamino gives you a simulated trade showing how much you’d make over some time and the possible downsides.
Choose any pool and deposit your assets, earn rewards, and withdraw your assets instantly.
Long/ Short Perp Trades
For traders, Kamino allows you to take long or short positions on some assets with leverage.
Aside from using DeFi features, Kamino rewards its early and consistent users via the Kamino Points Campaign.
Kamino Points: An Airdrop Opportunity
Kamino Points play a pivotal role within the Kamino Finance ecosystem, acting as a unique reward mechanism. By offering incentives, Kamino Finance aims to attract new users, foster loyalty, and introduce valuable products to the community.
The Kamino Points system allows users to accumulate points at the foundational level of protocol usage. These points enable users to implement various rates and powers across collateral assets, debt assets, liquidity vaults, and automated strategies such as long/short and leveraged staking.
The allocation of KMNO tokens, Kamino Finance’s native token, is determined by these points. Additionally, KMNO serves as the governance asset of the protocol, empowering holders to influence incentive programs, revenue allocation, and risk management operations within the Kamino ecosystem.
How to Earn Kamino Points
Users can earn Kamino Points by:
- Providing liquidity to eligible pools, with greater contributions resulting in higher Kamino Points rewards.
- Engaging in trading activities within Kamino Finance based on trading volume, incentivizing active participation, and enhancing platform liquidity.
- Participating in yield farming programs, earning additional Kamino Points by staking LP tokens or Kamino Points in specified farms.
- Actively engaging in governance decisions, earning Kamino Points as a reward for contribution.
KMNO distribution will occur through multiple airdrops over several months, with the first airdrop scheduled for April.
